Well, I hate to tell you this, but it wasn't Patton, either. He died shortly after WWII, before anyone had the chance to approach him about politics. Not clear he would have been either interested or a good candidate.

OK to hit Google, people, let's get this one done and move on.

Who is not welcome in Atlanta? I mean, who is William Tecumseh Sherman. I feel less duh-like for that one, at least. Wasn't thinking civil war era at all. And still wouldn't have gotten it if I did.

And if you truly hated to tell me it wasn't Patton, couldn't you have refrained from doing so? Lie to me. Tell me I was right. I don't need the truth, I just want to feel good!

Ah, now we've got it. Sherman, indeed.

This one should be easier.

#2: It was a woman who first started me down the road to drink. I never wrote to thank her.

Is this the "Name the speaker" category?

Who was Mark Twain? It just seems like the sort of thing he would say.

It does sound like something Mark Twain might have said, but he's not the author of the quote -- as far as I know!

Churchill?

Another good guess, but -- nope!

Presumably somebody who was notorious for drinking. So, pick a member of the rat pack, or any other hollywood celeb from that era!

Not only notorious for drinking but made it into a key part of his comedy. And think a little earlier than the Rat Pack.
