I have been hanging out for years a few places that are still going strong even in this recession.

1. Gladstones Restaurant in Malibu,CA (Great Seafood).
2. The Jazz Bakery in Culver City,CA (Great Jazz).
3. Catalina Bar and Grill in Hollywood,CA (Great Jazz and Dinner).
4. Chan Dara in Larchmont District (Great Thai Food).
5. El Cholo Mexican Restaurant Mid Wilshire (Great Mexican Food-Shrimp Faitija's and Marguarita's)
6. Wolfgang Puck's new spot in Santa Monica,CA.

I went to El Cholo many years ago with some friends from work... 1998 or '99, some time around there... and saw OJ Simpson having a drink at the bar. It was just a few years after his trial and it was so creepy to see him just sitting there, finishing his drink and chatting with the bartender as if we didn't all think of him as a murdering monster. But El Cholo tends to draw the "Hollywood" types, which is why it's not a place where I like to hang out. I prefer more out of the way spots that aren't so "L.A."

This is the aspect of LA I know the least about, having moved away at age 18. Would love to have someone show off to me these "adult" sites of interest.
