i just watched that one earlier eccentric. hah.

i have the series on dvds but they're just downloaded. ok quality, but not as sharp as a real dvd or hd.
I would love to have the entire series in hd, but i think it was around $500 when i looked

Was it originally shot on film? If it was tape, I'd think HD would be making a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

everything's being converted to hd these days. im only guessing they could do that to it too.
i looked on amazon and it's $300something there.

on that note, i have to watch an episode or two now.

The TNG episode with the warp bubble is "Remember Me": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remember_Me_(Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation)

The giant headed aliens could be a couple of original series episodes: The Menagerie (the Cage) or the Corbomite Maneuver.

My favorite Next Generation episode is probably "Peak Performance" which had good primary and secondary storylines.

I just got an ad from Buy.com. They have the whole series (regular DVD) on 49 disks for $245. Around $300 for ST Voyager.

Saw some net talk on TNG.. looks like it was shot on 35mm, but all the editing and any digital graphics were done on video tape and standard definition. So could potentially be redone in HD, but sounds like a LOT of work to do the whole series.

Surely it has to be the double episode of TNG at the end of the series where Picard is captured by the Borg and becomes Locutus of Borg. It featured the first reveal of the Borg in detail including inside their ship, great action scenes and left a huge cliffhanger at the end of the season. Had we just witnessed the end of Picard? They had a reputation of killing off major characters so it was possible. I remember long conversations in the pub with mates about what was to follow in the next series.

Yes, this was a pivotal episode that would effect the rest of the series and the films that followed - For Picard and his character. For me a favorite episode is "Measure or a Man" (see my earlier post). This intrigues me, though, because it parallels that episode. Picard was confronted by his humanity in the episodes you mention just as Data was in the episode I mentioned. Where is the division of Machine/Man. Star Trek always has relevance in thoughtful ways...
