I am a Physicist, Venusian, lover of chamber music and KUSC, KHPR, and PBS who enjoys sailing, dining and classical concerts.
You can find me restoring my Victorian house, puttering in my workshop,
digging in my garden, or enjoying both my homes in Venice Beach or Maui. I
am optimistic about the future and see humankinds life beyond the stars...
we are just children learning about life and where we live. Someday we will
all touch the stars again. By this I mean that our space faring days are
just beginning, and eventually we will reside mainly in space habitats
forming a shell around the sun, and the Earth will be our revered homeland,
probably having only a few million permanent inhabitants and perhaps 100
million or so visitors from the thousands of space habitats, exploring a
vast natural environment similar to that which existed perhaps 50,000 years
ago. Hopefully, people then will be at peace with themselves and their
environment, and study will be an important avocation. Most of our physical
needs will be taken care of by our inventions, and people will be free to
pursue their inner desires. With the understanding achieved by our
exponential accumulation of knowledge, we will be much more in tune with the
universe. Perhaps this sounds impossible by today's standards, just as space
flight might have sounded 500 years ago... but it is my feeling that this is
where we are headed, and gives me some perspective in today's transitory
world. I like thinking, and certainly would like a partner who also enjoys
speculation. This little essay sort of describes me... but I also like to
work with my hands making telescopes, furniture, electronic gadgets and
underwater apparatus. I even have a small tractor that I like to drive
around the yard, imagining that some how I will finish the landscaping...
Like women collecting shoes, I collect tools... a man can not have too many
tools...
