sometimes, the girl next door will surprise you...

I am a therapist (mental health), so human behavior and people in general never cease to interest, surprise, and amaze me. I love to laugh at life's absurdities, and tend to look for the positive or humorous in any situation. I love comedy that is witty and surprising or that takes something to a ridiculous extreme. I am always looking for new challenges and opportunites to grow. I am active, and love to work hard physically and intellectually. I am passionate about my faith, my kids, learning new things and helping/serving others. I believe strongly in community service and social justice. I was an outward bound instructor for 2 summers, so I love the mountains, the wilderness, the depth of quiet and peace when enveloped by nature.

My guess is that most of us on this web site have a sense that there is so much more to each us than a few words can capture...here's my first attempt!

Jane Austen, Emily Bronte, Henry Cloud, Gavin DeBecker...I'm an avid reader, usually reading several books at a time. I love to read about science, astronomy, economics, politics, history, psychology...if it's quality writing and/or expresses unique ideas/perspectives, I'll probably like it. One caveat: horror and gratuitous violence, no matter how well written, will never interest me.

What are you passionate about?

hmmm...I think the "ideal" first date is more about who I'm with than what we are doing, and would be easier to identify in retrospect. That said, a really good first date can just be a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or a walk in the park with some great conversation and connection...

I'm great at trivial pursuit, so my mind is full of interesting facts that aren't worth a darn in day to day life... Pictionary, Taboo. I have to admit that I don't love board games. Love playing basketball.

music is eclectic: Relient K, Carbonleaf, Goo Goo Dolls, Third Day, Norah Jones, Al Jarreau, classic 80's and 90's rock, love great jazz and blues, classical.. Not a fan of rap or hip hop...

movies: I don't have a favorite movie...maybe genres. Most Jane Austen adaptations, comedies (not slap stick), action/adventure. Don't really watch the suspense and psychological thrillers any more...get enough of that at work!!
