Diamond in the rough...
I’m kind of a cross between Luke Danes and Chris Stevens (Super-Bonus Points if you can name the TV shows those characters are from!). Old-fashioned parents raised me, so my manners are those of another time and court. I rather enjoy being the charming prince, but I do expect the woman to reciprocate and be the princess. I may not be the best looking guy, but I do have a heart of gold. When I was a wee lad knee-high to a grasshopper, I wanted to be Sir Galahad (noblest of the knights) when I grew up. I am living, breathing proof that chivalry is not dead.

My idiosyncrasies include a monstrous... vocabulary... and I’m a bit OCD about grammar and proper communication. Other than that, I’m a very easy-going person... with a warped sense of humor (Some people are like Slinky’s; basically useless, but they do bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs! If you break your hallux, should you call a toe truck?). I like dogs, but have none at present (though my mother has the cutest Boykin Spaniel!). I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong, but I never need to ask directions (that's what GPS is for - plus, I can read a Thomas Guide )!

I like strong, intelligent, and independent women, with integrity, education, and a sense of humor. If you understood what Gabrielle Union was saying in Deliver Us From Eva when her character said, “Surely the temporal proximity of our advent is not determinate” and laughed about it, we need to talk!

Personality is key; without it, beauty is wasted... accordingly, superficial aspects like appearance and figure are merely icing on the cake. For the record, I don’t eat cake for the icing. Nevertheless, feminine pulchritude may only be appreciated by the beholder, so I request you have a picture on your profile... you’ve seen mine, equity dictates that I be able to see yours.

What I’m interested in is something long-term. As for myself, after 20 years teaching computers and computer networking, I recently returned to school and got my degree in Communications (specifically, Public Relations). I wanted to do PR for alternative energy, green technology, and/or nanotechnology; ultimately, I wound up going back into training. I teach the software that controls badge readers and physical access control systems.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
- William Ernest Henley (1849 - 1903)

“There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness.” (Super-Bonus Points if you can identify the quote... WITHOUT looking it up!)

“Tongue-tied and twisted, just an Earthbound misfit, I.”

“You come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly.”

Captain Blood (Rafael Sabatini), Scaramouche (Rafael Sabatini), The Sea Hawk (Rafael Sabatini), The Celestine Prophecy (James Redfield), The Five Love Languages (Gary Chapman), A Brief History of Time (Stephen W. Hawking), The Elegant Universe (Brian Greene), the Harry Potter books, In Search of Schrödinger’s Cat (John Gribbin), Blinded by the Light (John Gribbin), My American Journey (Colin Powell), Without Remorse (Tom Clancy), The Lost Symbol (Dan Brown), Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, many others.

What is the answer to The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything?

Low pressure, quiet locale, easy conversation, copious laughter, extreme profundity, and capacious lexicons exercised all around.

I'm too old for games. There are board games that I do enjoy; and I find the X-Games, on T.V., eminently watchable. My favorite activity is snuggling up on the sofa and reading to my sweetie.

I couldn't pin it down to one movie, since I partake of most genres. A few favorites that pop to mind are INCONCEIVABLE! (i.e., The Princess Bride), most Marvel Comics movies (except Logan, that was was a waste of perfectly good celluloid - I've seen detergents leave better film), Star Wars, The American President, and I confess a fondness for the Alien and Hellraiser series'. Guilty Pleasure: I find Transformers movies tremendously entertaining.

I have a pretty broad taste in music. Folks get culture shock looking through my C.D. collection, since I have Manilow next to Marley and Metallica (it's actually Metal Church, since they're in alphabetical order, but Metallica's a more recognizable name! :-D). I also encompass Kitaro, Kenny G, classic rock, Wagner, Celtic Woman, Beethoven, and even country. About the only things I DON'T listen to are rap and opera. One artist who is always in my top ten (if not my top five), in general, is David Wilcox (the American one, not the Canadian). He does GREAT guitar work; he has a deep, smooth, mellow voice; and his lyrics can only be described as "soulful."

Realism tells me I can't fix the entire world; idealism drives me to clean up my little corner of it. I go through life trying to leave the world a better place than I found it... and encouraging others to do the same.
