I'm curious about most things, with the exception of golf, accounting, and the goings-on of Hollywood starlets. I can watch Family Guy and Sense and Sensibility with equal enthusiasm, and I can read Stephen J. Gould and Stephen King with equal pleasure. In a nutshell, I don't take myself too seriously, and do my best not to surround myself with those who do. When I'm not playing Miss Crabtree to my middle-school students, I like to see live music, stroll around flea markets and street fairs, browse bookstores, watch interesting movies, and generally keeping my eyes and ears open.

I suppose I'm looking for what everyone else is - someone who attracts both my mind and my eye. Good old-fashioned chemistry that leaves a queasy feeling.

I love J.D. Salinger, Richard Beaumont, Doris Lessing, John Irving, Shirley Jackson, James Joyce, Paul Auster, the list continues...

How could anyone have ever taken Sarah Palin seriously?
Why does Broadway keep churning out remakes of 80's movies?

A cup of coffee/tea, somewhere outside, or perhaps in a music/bookstore. Something casual, not too cliche', maybe some Indian food thrown in for good measure if chemistry rears its head.

Scrabble, Scattergories, chess, Othello, You Don't Know Jack, most card games, Cranium

Some of my favorite movies include Papillon, Paris J'Taime, An American Werewolf in London, Spinal Tap, Love and Death, Buffalo 66, Goodfellas, Swingers, To Sir with Love, Monsoon Wedding, the list continues...
As for music, I like classic/prog/alternative rock, jazz (instrumental usually, not too many vocals), classical, and anything melodic. I detest dance/club/techno music, generally anything that's popular with my students.
