Backcountry hiking, river sports, cooking, eating well. Reading: a large dose of general history, science, geology, current events, politics. Occasionally sci-fi or classic fiction for a break. Travel is the biggest remaining vice. Why work if not to be able to travel and experience different cultures.
I play guitar and sing in a working band about 25 nights a year, and musical interests run from Latin (salsa, ranchero, vallenato, meringue, etc), to Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Elvis Costello, U2, etc. Driving and at home not infrequently listen also to Mozart, Vivaldi, a bit of the old Ludwig Van, Grieg.
Languages: Speak Spanish fluently, working on German and French
Interested in meeting someone to integrate intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical beings. I appreciate the sensual very much as a path to enlightenment and happiness, but the most attractive portion of my ideal mate is inside the cranium. Time and distance are not necessarily a barrier to growth and evolution within a significant relationship. I've got lots of frequent flier miles.

I am self employed and market tourism options in my home county. I was once a full time river guide, worked in several states and countries. Still do that for fun when I get a chance, but got out of the business after 25 years. Occasionally put together services for groups including transportation, activities and myself as an interpretive guide on geology, history, border politics. I like living in a quiet place near public lands for wilderness pursuits. Clean air a must. BUT, its nice to go to a city occasionally for movies, museums, sushi, live music etc. Prefer cities with advanced public transportation; having to drive freeways negates all the benefit.

Is it only me, or does it seem like even with all this communication tech some people are getting more ignorant and isolated as time goes by? What happened to living on the edge, pushing the envelope? The world is hung up on celebrities and sports. What the hell is up with that? I know its hard to get a life sometimes, but come on!!!

Trip to Mexico. 2nd choice: all day canoe trip or hike in the mountains with simple, elegant meal and good wine afterwards.

Don't need help having fun, especially with a fun companion. Will play cards if invited, but rather be outside and active.

Blade Runner, Casablanca, 5th Element, Apocalypse Now, Day the Earth Stood Still (original version), African Queen, Lost in Translation, The Man Who Would be King. Almost anything by Kubrick
Music: Cumbia, Vallenato, Salsa, Meringue, Rock and roll of all flavors, blues, R&B, the Cure, the Clash. Easier to list what I don't like: rap, contemporary country, factory produced sound alike acts, like B Spears, anything that's watered down
