After a career writing television (mainly sitcoms) and movies, I'm now blogging on politics and pop culture while continuing to write screenplays. I came to this part of the country to be outside more - hike the Smokies, kayak the rivers, and document it all with my trusty digital camera. I collect art (the no-brow Juxtapoz school and early 20th century graphics) and will drive long distances for live music, spicy food and nature. I'm big on buying and cooking local food and enjoying the hell out of life.

The lunatic "intelligent design" crowd say the world is too complex to be made by man. Close. It was made by man AND woman. Let's see if we can help.

In a house filled with books I love here are a few: Flaubert's Parrot by Julian Barnes, Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, Geek Love by Katherine Dunn, American Gods by Neil Gaiman and True History of the Kelly Gang by Peter Carey. Love Anthony Lane's movie reviews in the New Yorker and Frank Rich is not to be missed in the Sunday New York Times.

Food is a must - we are our most human when we are sharing food.
Talk.
Laughs.
Commitment to repeat.

Bought the expanded Scrabble set advertised in the New Yorker. Quadruple word and letter scores. Love it. I'm now doing the Ken math puzzle in the NY Times. Daily and Sunday crosswords in the Times.

The Philadelphia Story, Trainspotting, Sullivan's Travels, Miller's Crossing, Pan's Labyrinth, and many, many more.
Here's the music I'm going to see this summer: The Decemberists, Coldplay, Bruce, Band of Horses, Jane's Addiction and some events at Spoleto in Charleston, SC where last year I was lucky enough to see Monkey: Journey to the West, a Chinese opera with music by Damon Albarn of Blur.
