My Profile My Match
I enjoy a lot of different things, from history to camping; from architecture to dancing (I am no good but have no fear). I love to explore my surroundings, travel, research any place I am going to visit and return to my favorite places. I love being outside in the cool and warm weather. I am enamored with physics, engineering, geology and archaeology, along with architecture, both old and new. I enjoy museums, as well as just strolling around interesting neighborhoods. Indoors, I love to cook, read, entertain friends and family, and debate current events. I like movies, both dramas and irreverent comedies. Sometimes you cannot have too much fun laughing at the silliness of Caddyshack.

Smart but fun and energetic

I have always been intelligent but get along with everyone. My friends call me funny, charismatic and a brainiac. So I thought, why not this site? I love to have fun and laugh, even at my own expense. I am comfortable around people, rarely getting shy but I can be reserved until I gauge the temperment of the room. I love to be outdoors doing simple things like fishing but can hold my own in a political debate. I enjoy both run of the mill evenings home and cultural events out on the town. I love to cook and entertain casually. I am not the type to prefer fine dining over good food and conversation. Why fuss, the food is going to be good and eaten, but I will enjoy it immensely if I am able to sit down with my apron still on . . . I am the type of person who will say "let's go for after dinner drinks" rather than insist on cleaning up the dishes. After all, the cats want their taste too . . . LOL. Dinner out is fun too. I love ethnic restaurants and try to support free standing independent ones when possible. After all, they generally allow you to dance on the bar . . .

If you were able to pick the most important traits you wanted in a woman but for every trait you chose, you had to discard one as well, what would be your list of important traits and discarded ones?

I do not enjoy pressure on first dates. I want to have fun, and be relaxed, so if given an option, I always suggest getting together for drinks at his favorite pub or bar & grill. That way, if the evening or afternoon is going well, it may progress but if it is somewhat stagnant, neither has committed to a lengthy date such as a meal or event. If he hasn't run out while I am powdering my nose, then we may continue on for a meal or a nice walk. I believe it is important to get to know someone at the first time meeting but don't you always feel like you are giving a social resume? I like this and that and my family consists of him and her . . . maybe we should type all that up and deliver it via email prior to meeting. On the other hand, I like the spontaneity of real time discussions, even though emailing at first is just fine. My best first date did not even start out as a date but progressed into one after a cocktail. We had so much fun, we wandered around downtown Washington, DC for hours and then went to an all night diner where we talked until 5am. Both of us had to work very shortly thereafter but were happy we spent the time. I think we should be free to roll with the punches and admit when we are enjoying ourselves and when we are not.

I love board games. I enjoy scrabble, trivial pursuit, sequence, monopoly, scene it and others. I enjoy cards as well, but admit that I am a novice at most of them. I don't tend to be competitive but there are times . . . I love watching most sports except boxing and wrestling. I admire the skill but not the violence.

My favorite movies range from Schindler's List and Shawshank Redemption to Caddyshack (see above) and History of the World, Part I. I am a girl and won't deny that chick flicks are fun. I enjoyed many contemporary ones including Slumdog Millionaire, Gran Torino (one of the best I have seen) and Frost/Nixon. I am a lawyer, so Grisham movies and Erin Brocovich-esque rarely disappoint. I truly enjoyed Inception and recently Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris. My music interests are equally varied. I enjoy classic rock, contemporary rock, some pop (it gets me energized while working out), classical, opera, some country and jazz. I am not fond of hip-hop or rap. I adore the big band era classics, finding the Rat Pack a great group of guys!
