My interests (hobbies) include trivia and word games, French culture, classic movies, jazz, 50's-60's rock n' roll, theater, and poetry. I have competed in several crossword tournaments, finishing in the Top 10 several times. I've been a member of Mensa since 1982, and have hosted several games tournaments for the organization, and addressed groups on movie history.

How about a "smart date": me?

I'm a 60-ish guy, but you'd never know it to see or listen to me. I maintain youthful looks and outlook. (Think the YOUNG Orson Welles from "Citizen Kane" or "The Third Man".) I may not be "Mr. Hunk" or "Mr. Handyman", but I'm told I make very pleasant company. I have a sense of humor, and love to tell amusing (I think so, anyway) anecdotes. I also enjoy disco dancing.

I love French literature, particularly the comedies of Moliere, the satires of Voltaire, and "Les Carnets de Major Thompson" (an amusing look at French culture) by Pierre Daninos. I like American and British mysteries, from Agatha Christie to Martha Grimes. Any kind of puzzle fascinates me.

We could meet for coffee/tea, then stroll through the Manhattan streets, taking in the view, the shops, the people.
New York is an adventure, meant for sharing.

Crosswords, Scrabble, Monopoly

"Citizen Kane", "The Third Man", "Pygmalion", "Gigi",
"Singin' In the Rain", "The Band Wagon", "Funny Face",
"How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying",
"The Producers" (Zero Mostel/Gene Wilder)

Music: Classical, Jazz, Show Tunes

I have been on TV (successful game show contestant) and radio (podcast interviews with well-known personality). I have also given talks on classic movies to receptive audiences.

"Changing the world" is ambitious, but unrealistic. I prefer to make the world a bit better for my presence. If I can help others enjoy life, through a smile or laugh or an inspired thought, I feel I will have accomplished something important.
