I have some weird and nerdy hobbies, outside of the work that seems to take all of my time. I'll just make a small, intereactive list:

1) Professional Korean Starcraft (search NuketheStars on Youtube for a sample)
2) Ping Pong (I play offensive topspin)
3) Ice hockey, roller hockey (I play lazy, low-contact, heavy on the stick handling)
4) I just, just discovered "Home Movies" on the Adultswim website ... it's a funny show

That's about it at present .... I once enjoyed:
1) Program Autohotkey (Google "universal darkroom" for my 15 seconds of fame)
2) Playing roguelikes (Google "Where we remain" for a great example of a roguelike)
3) watching movies and reading books
4) I used to play the piano a lot, not anymore
5) I used to try to learn to write Chinese
6) I used to organize philosophy groups
7) .... because I've been kicked out of at least two writer's groups, because I didn't like any of the idiotic stuff they read or talked about :-)
8) I used to play Go and Chess
9) I used to play ultimate Frisbee, before I realized I couldn't handle all that exertion
10) I used to drink and be social

Haven't Failed Yet :-)

I want to be that dude that all your friends are telling you to stop talking to because "that god-awful band is going nowhere" and because "that idiot" needs to "seriously stop pretending it's 1993".

I'm a penniless electrical engineer turned literary theorist / philosopher. I'm mostly unaccomplished, unfortunately, except for some fancy paperwork from a decent school I got a few years back. But, working hard every day to get my foot in into the door of academic philosophy, I haven't failed yet. Think of me as a hybrid: I combine a pragmaticism and nerdiness of engineering with the scorn, independence, and romanticism of critical philosophy.

I've decided to start blogging on this site in order to help myself write and think, as well as to convey some of the excitement of philosophy that made me leap majors a few years back. This is part of an effort to make my profile as interactive as possible :-)

The ideal first date would be: Two people coming together, without really acknowledging it's a date at all, in order to be distracted by a third thing, so that each has a chance to perform who they are, naturally, without resorting to these descriptive, and mostly useless self-characterizations. :-)

I'm a fan of independent games. Google these, they're all free, some of them are browser games
1) Where we Remain
2) Deadly Rooms of Death
3) Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
4) Don't Look Back
5) Necronomicon
6) Kongai
