Vertically challenged and loving it

I used to be really self conscious about my height, but I've learned to love it thanks to my awesome friends from college. Ever need to measure something exactly 5 ft? I'm a walking unit of measurement. Being able to laugh at myself and some of the things I do is a personal reminder not to take myself (and sometimes life) too seriously. I'd like to think that I'm an open-minded person and like to listen to other people's views. I have my dumb moments and tend to be a little sarcastic.

I love reading, so much that I always carry a book. I can and have literally spent hours in both libraries and bookstores. I listen to a variety of music genres. Case and point--if you put my iPod on shuffle you'd find some classical, pop, hip hop, rock, alternative, and broadway. I've been playing the flute, violin and piano since I was a kid. I was into theater in college and was usually cast as the comic relief.

Although I live within 2 hrs from at least 4 beaches, I never go except for sea kayaking. I prefer the mountains--camping, hiking, kayaking, and hopefully snowboarding soon (I'm learning!). Oh, the knitting thing? I learned from some girl friends in college and find it therapeutic. Most of the things I make are given to friends or family.

I'm currently applying to grad programs so hopefully I'll be back in school soon. My areas of interest are DNA analysis and comparative microbiology.
