I've not been to this site for like a year and my description was way longer then what is ok. I'll rewrite it, I promise but I do not have time right now. For summary:
1. I'm full time student at UCLA and work part-time - this takes majority of my schedule, at best I have one weekend. Keep this in mind. I'll be in school another 5 years but may leave UCLA in 2011. I'm basically choosing academia over corporate world career.
2. My hobbies and interest vary a lot and I'd do almost anything outdoors and cultural-type activities. Outdoors I hike, rollerskate (love doing it at Santa Monica and Venice beach), go camping, play tennis. For culture I'm in at least one museum per month and go to cinema, theatre, etc.
3. I do not go to bars and more or less don't drink unless its bear at college party. In general I socialize in school circles but not much outside. Maybe you can help.
Rest of the things below you probably should not read unless you're really bored. It was written > 12 months ago - I guess I had more time then. Oh - I should mention that I'm rather active on Facebook, would be great if you have an account there and we get to know about each another through there first.

I used to have an even longer text here, I'm replacing it now with info from Facebook -

I should add volunteering and going to museums for activities and mention that I like foreign film festivals. Otherwise I'm working (have been computer engineer for 10+ years) and studying. It warries by term which one I do full-time, but either way it does not leave much extra time; but I do try my best to fill it with cultural activities, traveling and meeting people and some sports (mostly biking and tennis - not that good at either really...). My studies include combination of Anthropology, Mathematics, CS & Physics with research interests in trying to model social systems using quantum computing & quantum statistics techniques. Update: I'll be at UCLA full-time from Fall 09, I was at SF Bay for previous 8 years and taking classes at Berkeley part-time.
If you did not get it from personality profile, I'm very reserved/introverted/shy and mathematics (i.e. dorky/nerdy) type of person, but unlike most who are this introverted I'm quite open to new activities and "seeing the word". I like travel and visiting different countires/cities/places (been to around 20 countries, mostly trains/hostels/backpacking, couple on archaeology trips) and also like nature road-trips (especially to National Parks in Utah). As I recently found, I also enjoy techno disco clubs - I'm going to be exploring this more (I've usually been shy in trying to dance but for techno my skills seem just fine).
I'm very nice guy and I absolutely hate selfish and materialistic people. I get along best with either similar mathematics/physics minded people or free-spirited/hippie type of girls who are friendly and care about every living being (they are sometimes even able to get me out of my typical reserved state). I'm looking more for friendship to start with (I have to know somebody well and trust to open up on a more intimate basis) and I'm friendlier and more attentive then it may appear at first.

Books: Inhabited Island, Monday Starts on Saturday and almost all other books by Strugatsky brothers, Lord of the Rings, Hobbit and Silmarilian by JRR Tolkien, Red Mars/Green Mars/Blue Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson, The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula Le Guin, Foundation Trilogy by Asimov, Feynman Lectures on Physics, Time's Arrow by Martin Amis, Dr. Zhivago by Boris Pasternak, The Good Soldier Schweik by Jaroslav Hasek, Cradle by Arthur Clark and so many others
As you probably see I'm into sci-fi although I do read quite a few other books in History, Philosophy and other subjects. Right now on my nights stand I see "American Indian Myths and Legends", "History of Western Philosophy" by Russell, "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand (which I did not like), "Prelude to Foundation" by Asimov.

Yes, please do ask! Asking the right question is the most important and difficult step towards an answer.

Walk somewhere in natural environment like forest/hills/mountains or beach to get to know each other. I'm also ok with some open city places like walking on Embarcadero in SF is cool.

Civilization is my favorite computer game of all times. For board games I play chess, checkers, reversi and a few others. BTW, I'd love to find a partner to try playing 3d Chess (aka Startrek Chess) with...
I listen to Alternative and Indie Rock Music, Pop, Jazz. Dace to indie and electro-techno type of music.
